LadyBirds

The music of John Bradley

LadyBirds

A little history

I have been involved in music since I was a young boy starting first with the cello, the sound of which I loved but it was not really the instrument for me. We had a piano at home and I had always been keen to learn to play it and would spend many hours playing and was to discover how easy it was to play by ear rather than bother with music scores. When in my late teens some friends and I decided that forming a band would be a good idea but we we needed a drummer. I had never played the drums before but I did not believe that it could be that difficult and went to the local music store, bought a drum kit and announced to the members of the band that we now had a drummer.

There is nothing like bluffing sometimes and I soon became quite proficient on the drums. For a while things went well but I was still not satisfied and became keen to try something different. Electronic organs were becoming readilly available and I decided that a keyboard was the answer. A new band was formed and I traded in the drums on a single keybourd organ and later purchased a larger two keyboard organ and was beside myself with the wall of sound that I could produce. The band lasted a few years and we all had a great time but it eventually came to and end as we all moved on.

It was to be many years before I became interested in composing. I had a piano in the large kitchen of my old house and one day, while doodling, a piece of music began to take shape and 'Time Out' was created. After a while I became very frustrated with the piano and it's limited sound and purchased a synthesizer and was then able to add other sounds to my music.

My first CD is a compilation of various pieces I have composed over the years and I have attached samples of these that you can hear by clicking on the song title. The CD (US$20 + postage) can be ordered using the Bradley & Bradley order form, being the last item listed and can be paid for by credit card in the usual way. If you prefer, you can order the CD by email or fax and I will let you know the total cost including postage to any part of the world. You can then supply your credit card details or, if you prefer, a bank draft by mail. New Zealand orders should be received within 3 - 4 days, overseas orders within 10 days.
